Nov. 9th, 2014 - old news |
Day of Decimation November 8th will go down in the annals as a struggle of epic proportions. In a daunting double header, the Approach struggled mightily with both the Red Mountain Hooligans and the Pride of Parker, coming away with 7 touchdowns scored, 7 casualties inflicted, a busted ankle and a pair of victories.
In the top half of the matchups, things started off with a bang and a crash. A horde of Oblique Freaks packed the stadium, and a raucous fan scored with a mighty clang, their rock echoing of the helmet of the Hooligans star player, Nobbla Blackwart, sending him off the pitch for the game. The huge crowd was with the team all day, shellacking the Red Mountain Boys during a pitch invasion to start the second half. The rambunctiousness continued in the second contest, with two more rocks chucked against the boys in Black & Gold. In fact, the only deleterious outcome from the excess of excitement was a TD given up at the end of the first half of the latter game. The fans rioted after the clock-eating drive that started the game, and this gave Parker's Pride a chance to score after the defense set up in a prevent scheme that left too much room for an their opening play.
Each games featured an an exceptional performance by one of the Approach's up-and-comers. After watching his fellow blitzer, Ousanas, go do with a Fractured Ankle, Rana Sanga absolutely exploded on the field, badly hurting four goblins on his way to scoring two touchdowns. Inexplicably, the MVP was awarded to the rookie Golem, Sittas, for his stolid work in the trenches, valiantly trying not to get pushed around by the Hooligans two trolls, Big Ed and Bigger Edd.
In the second game, the fleet footed Werewolf, Valentinian, busted off two long TD runs, the latter while pushing the Pride's two-way receiver/safety Pagel down field before shaking him of for the score. In a sad note, Anastatius vented his frustration at being held in check by the Hooligans aforementioned trolls and jumped up and put down Feel my Roth for good. This development momentarily stunned the Pride long enough for Antonina to burst in for a score, Raghunath Rao having knocked loose the ball in their backfield.
It was a heady day for the Obliques, full of smashes and Crunches, but it may serve notice to the conference foes to Sit Up and take notice of them for the rest of the season. |
