A Comeback for the Ages The Boys in Blue (bodypaint) nearly gave up a game to those up-and-coming babes from down South. A combination of Lightning (the ladies "rent-a-wizard") and Thunder (Britney Swallows beefy new physique) put quite the hurting on the lads. Down 2 to Nil at the half, and kicking off, Smothered gave up _another_ touchdown on a botched hand-off, thanks to more brilliant mis-direction the part of opposing coach Jason Sperka. The frenzied masses found the Fend-able Wide Receivers to be tight ends to nail. :/
And then the tide turned. After another lame turnover in the 3rd turn of the 2nd half, the Chaos Gods decided to frown upon the Norsemen just a little less. A quick score, followed by a turnover and another quick score led to a fateful Turn 8 Kickoff with the Tramps up 3-2 but down 11-9 on field (through a quirk, or perhaps skill, the only players injured on either side of the pitch were the rookie line<wo>men). The blizzard that failed to materialize at the beginning of the game must have decided to make it's presence felt, and the 'Zerkers pulled off a blitz with the biznitches hiding away from the line.
Gravy came up with the ball under the protection of Remoulade, and both Pico & Duck Sauce ran split routes down field, and one of the Human Blitzers ate turf under the weight of another Ulfwerner. Ms. Swallows couldn't come up with a successful blitz and the game went to overtime. At that point, the two additional during Smothered's final turn, and a fortunate coin toss led to a rather perfunctory two turn score that almost felt anticlimactic. |

Dateline: 3 weeks ago Had a crazy game against the Blue Beastman Group. Lesson Learned: If you can keep the devastatingly powerful Warriors on the sidelines, you might actually have a chance against these bad boys.
On the down side, you could have both of your star Ulfwerners nearly killed in the same game. Well, one nearly killed, and the other just killed. Dead. On the upside, there was never any proof that he took PEDs.
In an equally crazy game, Smothered went down to the Alpha Betas. Apparently we could never overcome our deep-seated fears of our inner nerd-dom.
In an attempt to be generous, may we say that Coach Burns amazing final drive in the closing seconds of the game was truly epic. After our fumble on the goal line in the last possession, the AB's took the ball the length of the field in a single turn thanks to a fortunate throw-in from the fans in their endzone. :/
On the upside, we do have a new song to enter the pitch to, if only there was a better clip:

Dateline October 9, 2011 Smothered's match earlier today (Smothered - Broncs Brahmas (CHG Season 12, Week 1)) proved an interesting slugfest. The Chaos Dwarves moved the ball with purpose, while the Norse managed to put a slightly greater hurting on their opponents.
There was some question as to whether an unacknowledged Sneaky Git from the Brahmas was able to taint (teabag?) the northerners' game time supply of Bloodweiser. The KO box was more of a permanent lounge, with only a single rookie lineman re-entering the game. The teams Big 4, Butterscotch, Bernaise, Remoulade and Cream Cheese Frosting spent a combined total of more than 30 turns off the pitch.
On the upside, the boys with the biggest targets on them managed to avoid the not-so-amorous advances of a crazed Goblin Fanatic that invaded the pitch in the 4th quarter. |
